Premier Inn is one of the UK’s largest and most popular hotel chains, known for offering comfortable, budget-friendly stays. If you’re curious about what mattresses Premier Inn uses to ensure a good night’s sleep or if you’re considering a mattress purchase inspired by their comfort, this guide covers the specific mattresses and bedding details used by Premier Inn hotels. Whether you’re a frequent traveler or a mattress shopper, understanding their mattress choices can help you make informed decisions about sleep quality and comfort.
Hypnos Mattresses
Premier Inn primarily uses mattresses made by Hypnos, a British mattress manufacturer renowned for its craftsmanship and sustainable materials. Hypnos mattresses are handmade in the UK using natural fillings such as wool, cotton, and horsehair, which offer excellent breathability and durability. This partnership ensures guests experience a supportive yet plush sleep surface, balancing comfort with long-lasting performance.
Hypnos Orthos Support Mattress
The most common mattress model found in Premier Inn rooms is the Hypnos Orthos Support mattress. This mattress features a pocket-sprung system that provides targeted support to different body areas, reducing pressure points and ensuring spinal alignment. It is medium-firm in feel, designed to suit a wide range of sleepers, which is ideal for hotels catering to diverse guests.
Natural Fillings for Enhanced Comfort
Unlike many budget hotel chains, Premier Inn’s Hypnos mattresses incorporate natural fillings such as wool, cotton, and horsehair. These materials regulate temperature by wicking away moisture and allowing airflow, which helps maintain a comfortable sleeping environment throughout the night. This natural approach also reduces the reliance on synthetic components, appealing to environmentally conscious guests.
Premier Inn’s Pillow Top Layer
To complement the support of the Hypnos Orthos Support mattress, Premier Inn adds a pillow top layer made of memory foam and fiber fillings. This extra cushioning layer enhances softness and contouring, ensuring guests feel cradled without sacrificing support. The pillow top also helps absorb movement, minimizing disturbance from a partner shifting during the night.
Mattress Sizes and Customization
Premier Inn uses a range of mattress sizes to accommodate different room types, from singles and doubles to kings. While the mattress model remains consistent across most properties for uniformity, some newer or refurbished hotels may feature updated versions of the Hypnos mattress with slight modifications in firmness or layering to reflect guest feedback. This approach balances consistency with ongoing comfort improvements.
Durability and Maintenance
Hypnos mattresses are chosen not only for comfort but also for their durability, essential in a hotel setting with high turnover. The natural materials and handcrafted construction allow these mattresses to maintain shape and support across thousands of guest stays. Premier Inn also follows strict cleaning and maintenance protocols to ensure mattresses remain hygienic and fresh, including regular rotation and use of mattress protectors.
Comparison to Other Hotel Mattresses
Unlike many budget hotels that opt for cheaper foam or synthetic mattresses, Premier Inn’s decision to use Hypnos highlights their commitment to quality sleep. Hypnos also supplies mattresses to luxury hotels like The Dorchester and Gleneagles, which speaks to the brand’s reputation. This choice sets Premier Inn apart in the mid-range hotel market by offering a sleep experience closer to premium standards.
Mattress Toppers and Bedding
In addition to the mattress itself, Premier Inn invests in high-quality mattress toppers and bedding to enhance comfort. Their bedding includes hypoallergenic duvets and pillows, often with microfiber or down-alternative fillings, designed to complement the mattress’s feel. This combination ensures a cozy, restful environment that appeals to a wide range of sleepers.
Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Practices
Hypnos mattresses used by Premier Inn are crafted with sustainability in mind. The company sources natural, renewable materials and uses eco-friendly manufacturing processes. This commitment aligns with Premier Inn’s broader environmental goals, including reducing waste and improving energy efficiency across their properties, making their mattress choice part of a larger sustainability effort.
Guest Feedback and Sleep Quality
Premier Inn regularly collects guest feedback on sleep quality, and the Hypnos Orthos Support mattress consistently receives positive reviews for comfort and support. Guests frequently note the mattress’s balance of firmness and softness as ideal for restful sleep. This feedback loop helps Premier Inn maintain their mattress standards and adjust bedding components if needed to meet evolving guest preferences.
How to Choose
When selecting a mattress inspired by Premier Inn’s bedding, consider what matters most for your sleep needs. The Hypnos Orthos Support mattress is medium-firm with pocket springs, ideal if you want a balance between support and cushioning. Natural fillings like wool and cotton add breathability and temperature regulation, important if you tend to sleep hot. Also, consider if you prefer a pillow top or memory foam layer for additional softness. Durability is critical if you want a mattress that lasts, and Hypnos’s handcrafted construction is a strong point. Finally, look for mattresses with good motion isolation if you share a bed, as Premier Inn’s mattress reduces partner disturbance effectively.
