For travellers who have stayed at Premier Inn, the quality of the mattress is often a highlight of their stay. This listicle covers the specific types of mattresses Premier Inn uses across its hotels, providing detailed insights for anyone curious about the comfort behind those good night’s sleeps. Whether you’re considering buying a similar mattress for home or just want to understand what makes Premier Inn’s beds so popular, this guide breaks down the key mattress models and features.
Hypnos Orthos Elite Mattress
Premier Inn primarily partners with Hypnos, a British mattress manufacturer known for its handcrafted beds. The Orthos Elite model is a pocket-sprung mattress with a combination of natural fillings such as wool and horsetail hair, designed to provide firm support and durability. This mattress is valued for its ability to offer consistent comfort and pressure relief, making it ideal for a wide range of sleepers and contributing to Premier Inn’s reputation for restful nights.
Hypnos Pillow Top Mattress
Another mattress frequently used in Premier Inn rooms is the Hypnos Pillow Top mattress, which features an additional layer of cushioning sewn on top for extra softness. This design enhances comfort without sacrificing the supportive pocket spring core beneath. It is especially favored in premium rooms where guests expect a plush sleeping surface that still maintains proper spinal alignment.
Hypnos Ortho Pocket Sprung Mattress
The Ortho Pocket Sprung mattress combines the benefits of orthopaedic support with the responsiveness of pocket springs. Its construction helps reduce motion transfer, making it a good choice for couples sharing a bed. Premier Inn uses this mattress to balance comfort and support in standard rooms, ensuring guests wake up refreshed.
Hypnos Wool Mattress Range
Wool is a natural fibre known for its breathability and temperature regulation, and Premier Inn’s mattresses often incorporate this material in their fillings. Hypnos’s wool mattress models help maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature year-round, reducing overheating and moisture buildup. This feature is particularly important for hotels aiming to provide a consistently comfortable sleep environment regardless of the season.
Hypnos Vispring Hybrid Mattress
In select Premier Inn locations, higher-end rooms may feature mattresses from Hypnos’s Vispring hybrid range, which blends pocket springs with natural fibres like cashmere and silk. These mattresses are luxurious and provide exceptional contouring and pressure relief. While not standard across all Premier Inns, their presence in premium suites highlights the brand’s commitment to offering varied comfort levels.
Hypnos Eco-Friendly Mattress Options
Hypnos is also known for its sustainable manufacturing practices and eco-friendly mattresses. Some Premier Inn properties have adopted these mattresses, which use organic cotton, natural latex, and recycled materials. These options cater to environmentally conscious travellers while maintaining the comfort standards expected from the hotel chain.
Hypnos Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress
While pocket springs are the mainstay, Premier Inn has experimented with memory foam hybrid mattresses in some refurbished rooms. These mattresses combine the contouring benefits of memory foam with supportive springs, offering pressure relief and reduced motion disturbance. This hybrid approach suits guests who prefer a slightly softer, more adaptive sleeping surface.
Hypnos Traditional Spring Mattress
In older Premier Inn properties or budget rooms, traditional open coil spring mattresses may still be in use. These are less common but provide reliable support at a lower cost. Though not as advanced as pocket sprung models, they meet essential comfort and durability requirements for short-stay guests.
Hypnos Mattress Toppers and Protectors
Beyond the mattress itself, Premier Inn invests in high-quality mattress toppers and protectors, often made from hypoallergenic materials and featuring waterproof layers. These additions prolong mattress life and enhance guest hygiene, which is critical for hotel operations. The mattress topper can also subtly adjust firmness and softness to suit a broad guest profile.
Custom Hypnos Mattress Designs for Premier Inn
Hypnos produces bespoke mattress designs tailored specifically for Premier Inn, taking into account the hotel chain’s requirements for durability, comfort, and maintenance ease. These custom mattresses undergo rigorous testing to ensure they withstand frequent guest use while delivering consistent sleep quality. Such partnerships allow Premier Inn to offer a branded sleep experience unique to their hotels.
How to Choose
When selecting a mattress similar to those used by Premier Inn, the most important factors include the type of support (pocket springs vs. memory foam), firmness level, and natural fillings like wool for breathability. Consider your preferred sleeping position and any specific needs such as back support or temperature regulation. Durability and ease of maintenance are also crucial, especially for hotel-quality mattresses. If you want a softer feel, look for pillow-top or hybrid models, whereas firmer options like the Orthos Elite suit those needing more structured support.
