Final Thoughts
Mercury Rev’s membership as recorded by MusicBrainz shows a group of nine individuals with varied tenure. The database provides a factual snapshot of the band’s line-up without additional commentary or speculation.
For those seeking the most current and verified information on Mercury Rev’s members, consulting MusicBrainz directly remains the best resource.
To provide a bit more context on the band’s continuity, Dave Fridmann is listed as a member since 1984, which predates the official active years of the band from 1989–present. This suggests his involvement spans the entire known period of the band’s activity according to MusicBrainz data. Meanwhile, newer members like Marion Genser joined in 2021, indicating ongoing changes in the line-up even decades after the band’s formation.
Since roles are not listed for any members, it is unclear from MusicBrainz what instruments or positions each member holds within the band. This absence of role details means fans or researchers interested in specific contributions by members will need to refer to other sources, such as official band releases or liner notes, which are beyond the scope of MusicBrainz data.
It is also notable that two members are identified as former: Jason Sebastian Russo, with an end date of 2001, and Paul Dillon, whose years are not listed. The lack of a start year for Jason Sebastian Russo and any years for Paul Dillon indicates incomplete data in MusicBrainz for these members.
Mercury Rev’s discography, as listed by MusicBrainz, includes albums from 1991’s Yerself Is Steam through to 2024’s Born Horses. While this article focuses on membership, it provides context for the band’s long-standing activity and evolving line-up during the span of their recorded output.
Given the limitations of the MusicBrainz data, anyone needing detailed histories, full roles, or lineup changes over time might consult additional resources. However, as of the retrieval date 2026-10-09, this is the authoritative membership listing from MusicBrainz for Mercury Rev.
In summary, Mercury Rev’s current membership includes seven individuals without an end date in MusicBrainz, with two former members also recorded. No original line-up members are identified, and roles are unspecified. This reflects a factual and verifiable snapshot of the band’s personnel as recorded by a respected music database.
