Maroon 5 have eight official members over their history. The current line-up has six: Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, James Valentine, Matt Flynn, PJ Morton and Sam Farrar. Two original members, drummer Ryan Dusick and bassist Mickey Madden, have left.
The band started in Los Angeles in February 1994 as Kara’s Flowers, formed by Levine, Carmichael, Madden and Dusick while they were in high school. After one album on Reprise Records, The Fourth World (1997), the members focused on college. The band came back as Maroon 5 in 2001 with guitarist James Valentine added.
