The current members of Bachman–Turner Overdrive (BTO) are Randy Bachman (lead vocals, guitar), Tal Bachman (lead vocals, guitar), Brent Howard (guitar), Lance LaPointe (bass) and Koko Bachman (drums). Randy Bachman is the only founding member in the line-up. Co-founder C. F. “Fred” Turner made select live appearances with the band from 2023 to 2025 but is no longer listed as a full member.
BTO formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1971 under the name Brave Belt. The band went on hiatus in 2005. On June 29, 2023, Randy Bachman announced that it would reunite to tour, with his son Tal and his solo backing band making up the group. Randy Bachman (1971–1977, 1983–1986, 1988–1991, 2023–present)
Lead vocals and guitar. Randy Bachman founded the band with his brothers Robbie and Tim and their friend Fred Turner. He played lead guitar and sang in the 1970s line-ups behind songs such as “Takin’ Care of Business,” “Let It Ride” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” the band’s only US number-one single.
Tal Bachman (2023–present)
Lead vocals and guitar. Tal, Randy’s son, joined when the band reunited in 2023.
Brent Howard (2023–present)
Guitar and backing vocals since the 2023 reunion.
Lance LaPointe (2025–present)
Bass since 2025. Before him, Mick Dalla-Vee covered bass from 2023 to 2025 as a substitute for Turner.
Koko Bachman (2025–present)
Drums since 2025, taking over from Marc LaFrance, who drummed with the band from 2009 to 2018 and again from 2023 to 2025.
