The current members of Blue Öyster Cult are Buck Dharma (lead guitar, vocals), Eric Bloom (lead vocals, “stun guitar”, keyboards), Danny Miranda (bass), Richie Castellano (keyboards, rhythm guitar) and Jules Radino (drums). Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom are the two members left from the band’s classic line-up, and both have been in the band since its early years.
Blue Öyster Cult formed in Stony Brook, New York, in 1967. Its best-known songs are “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” (1976), “Godzilla” (1977) and “Burnin’ for You” (1981). Eric Bloom (1969–1986, 1987–present)
Lead and backing vocals, “stun guitar” (rhythm), keyboards and synthesizers. Bloom joined in 1969 and, with Buck Dharma, is one of the two classic-era members still in the band.
Danny Miranda (1995–2004, 2017–present)
Bass and backing vocals. Miranda had a first spell from 1995 to 2004 and returned in 2017.
Richie Castellano (2004–present)
Keyboards, rhythm guitar, additional lead guitar, and backing and lead vocals since 2007. He joined in 2004 as the bassist and moved to his current role in 2007.
Jules Radino (2004–present)
Drums and percussion since 2004.
The Classic Blue Öyster Cult Line-Up
The band’s longest-lasting and most successful line-up was Buck Dharma (lead guitar, vocals), Eric Bloom (lead vocals, “stun guitar”, keyboards), Allen Lanier (keyboards, rhythm guitar), Joe Bouchard (bass, vocals, keyboards) and Albert Bouchard (drums, percussion, vocals). Of these five, only Dharma and Bloom are in the current band.
