Judas Priest formed in Birmingham, England, in 1969 and has sold over 50 million albums. Its sixth studio album, British Steel, brought the band mainstream attention in 1980. Here is each current member, with roles and years as the band’s member list gives them.
Rob Halford (1973–1992, 2003–present)
Lead vocals. Halford left in 1992 and returned in 2003. In between, Tim “Ripper” Owens sang on two albums after the band regrouped in 1996.

Guitars, backing vocals and keyboards. Tipton was part of the 1970s core with Ian Hill, Rob Halford and K. K. Downing. He remains an official member, though he has limited his touring since 2018.
Scott Travis (1989–1992, 1996–present)
Drums and occasional backing vocals. Travis has been the drummer since Dave Holland left in 1989. Holland had joined in 1979, after a decade in which the band went through several drummers.
